If you’re like most people, you probably don’t enjoy the taste of super greens powder. It can be pretty bitter and unpleasant.
And when I say pretty bitter and unpleasant, I mean some powders literally taste like pond water (but not all).
Sounds delicious, right?
Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use to make your greens powder much more palatable (and even delicious).
Here are the top tips I recommend that don’t add unnecessary calories or sugar to your diet.
What to Mix with Super Greens Powder to Make It Actually Taste Good
1. Smoothie
This is probably the most popular way to take greens powder. And for good reason – it’s an easy and delicious way to get your daily dose of greens. Just add a scoop (or two) of powder to your favorite smoothie recipe.
You can do this with just about any kind of smoothie…green, strawberry banana, protein, whatever.
Just make sure you avoid high-sugar smoothies because that can be counterproductive.
2. Matcha latte
If you’re a fan of matcha, this is a great way to make your greens powder taste good. Just add a scoop of powder to your favorite matcha recipe. I like adding it to my iced matcha latte or my hot matcha latte.
The flavors complement each other and can make it where you don’t really even know you’re drinking greens powder.
3. Soup
Soup is another great way to sneak in some greens powder. Just add a scoop of powder to a soup with lots of veggies in it.
While I haven’t tried it, I bet this would taste terrible in certain soups. That’s why I recommend trying it with veggie soup or something with an already “green” taste.
4. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a great way to start your day and get in some greens at the same time. Just add a scoop of powder to your favorite oatmeal recipe.
Like soup, you want to make sure the flavors of the powder and oatmeal don’t clash. Plain oatmeal works great here, but cinnamon might make a nasty green concoction.
5. Salad
If you’re looking for a way to get your greens in at lunch or dinner, adding greens powder to your salad is a great option. Just add a scoop of powder to your favorite salad recipe. I like adding it to my Cobb salad or my Caesar salad.
If you stir everything up, the greens powder is much less noticeable.
Also, it’s worth saying that if you eat a lot of salads then you might not need greens powder in the first place…
6. Juice
Juice is another great way to get your greens in. Just add a scoop of powder to your favorite green juice recipe.
7. Yogurt
Yogurt is a great way to get your greens in and it’s also a good source of probiotics. Just add a scoop of powder to a rich yogurt and you’ll be able to mask the green taste.
It won’t be perfect by any means, but it’ll taste much better.
You Can Also Try Greens Capsules
If you really can’t stand the taste of greens powder, you can also try taking it in capsule form. There are a few brands that make greens capsules, so you can just take them with water and not have to worry about the taste at all.
But there are mixed feelings about whether capsules are as effective as powder. That’s because the capsules are much smaller doses and have more limited amounts of ingredients.
Therefore, it might not actually help you achieve what you’re looking for.
Make sure you talk to your doctor or a nutritionist to figure out whether powder or capsules is better for you.
Whatever You Mix it With…Make Sure It’s Still Healthy
I don’t recommend adding something to your diet that you wouldn’t already have regularly just to mix with greens powder. That means you are at a minimum adding unnecessary calories, if not sugar as well.
For instance, smoothies and juices tend to be high in sugar. If you add a smoothie to your routine just to make your greens powder taste better, you’re really not doing yourself any favors.
You might as well not take greens powder, eat more vegetables, and skip the smoothie.
Just make sure whatever you mix your greens powder with is healthy and something you already have in your diet.
Avoid anything high in calories or sugar.
How Will You Make Your Greens Powder Taste Better?
Now that you know how to make greens powder taste better, it’s time to put it into action.
Pick one of the ways I listed above and give it a try. Or come up with your own way to make greens powder more palatable.
Just make sure whatever you do, you’re still getting the nutritional benefits of taking greens powder. It’s a great way to get in more vegetables, so don’t skip it just because the taste isn’t ideal.
